The Monument Julebord is back! 

We're very happy to be hosting this community event at Tað, this time with Japanese World champion turntablist DJ Hi-C, and Monument family member Severja getting us in the groove. Jacob Roots and the team at SEFI are preparing a special meal, a story for the senses and something to share with those close to us.

DJ Hi-C

Based in Osaka, DJ HI-C has spent years mastering the art of turntablism. In recent years, he has made his mark on the world of techno, where repetition becomes a language of its own, with long-form narratives that take you somewhere new.
His extended sets move between ambient and psychedelic techno, drawing on sound and traditions closely connected to Japan’s outdoor music scene. As a leading figure behind MOMENT festival in Japan and the brain behind Aum Recordings, DJ HI-C has helped shape the scene and we’re excited to hear what he has in store for us this evening.

Severja

After 15 years in Berlin, Severja is now based in San Francisco, where he continues to work as a multidisciplinary artist. He is the founder and curator of Midgar Records, home to the likes of Wata Igarashi, Forest Drive West and, more recently, Aa Sudd, Priori, Agonis, Polygonia, Tammo Hesselink, OK EG, D.K. and Human Space Machine.

In his sets, sounds that might seem unrelated on paper are allowed to circle one another until their differences begin to blur: low-slung rhythms and weightless atmospheres, soundsystem pressure and psychedelic detail, skeletal drums, submerged melodies, synthetic organisms flickering at the edge of perception.
